CARNIVAL IN LUNGRO

Carnival in Lungro is particularly important and arouses great interest in the whole area of the Pollino. Ethnic peculiarities and folk rank this festival among the most important events of the Albanian folk tradition.
Through the streets of the country come together groups of young people and adults and to the rhythm run through the narrow streets of Old Town.
These groups are then welcomed into homes and they are offered wine and homemade foods, all enlivened by the sound of accordions and bagpipes and intermixed by the ancient and famous vjershė (poems) of the singing tradition arbėresh.
Carnival in Lungro holds an incredible socialization function that puts the viewer as protagonist of the festival.
This is not a simple incursion of companies and organs, but a party that lives in very special way that can not be described without the direct experience alive.
